Centre LGBT+ will host its first 5K run and walk this spring.

The inaugural Pride 5K: Love on Display will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, starting at the State College Municipal Building. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate, and are encouraged to wear creative and colorful rainbow attire, according to a news release.

“Pride 5K: Love on Display is more than a race,” Ian Hill, executive assistant at Centre LGBT+, said in a statement. “It’s an opportunity for our community to show up, stand proud and visibly support LGBT+ individuals and families across Centre County.”

Falcon Race Timing will provide professional timing, and awards will be presented top three overall finishers, as well as for “Best Pride Gear.”

Registration is open online, with an early-bird special of $25 available through May 15. After that, registration increases to $30.

The race will not have same-day registration, so all participants must register in advance.

Proceeds from the event will directly support Centre LGBT+ programs, including education, advocacy, direct aid, and community-building initiatives throughout the region.

The 5K will be held one day before the start of Pride Month. The annual State College Pride event hosted by Centre LGBT+ and community partners is scheduled for June 13, starting with a parade at 10 a.m. followed immediately by a festival.
